Purpose runs deep at Truist. As part of our enterprise-wide purpose of inspiring and building better lives and communities, we encourage every teammate to find and cultivate their personal purpose as well. Creating and acting on our personal purpose helps each of us find meaning in our work, which can make us more engaged and better equipped to serve our communities.
When our individual purpose feeds into and augments our shared purpose, almost anything is possible. Every teammate and team have the potential and the power to make crucial contributions to the lives of our clients and the health of our communities.
Here are some more teammates who exemplify the power of purpose.
Growing up in an Asian, Christian household, I was taught that this life is not just my own but also for others—to respect and serve your family and community is fundamental to all that we do.
In my childhood home of Singapore, design was present but not prevalent, and often seen as superficial. Discovering the field of human-centered design was where the stars aligned for me—I realized that design had the power to transform people’s lives, behaviors, and experiences. It resonated with me deeply.
At Truist, I design delightful experiences with clients and teammates at the core. Whether it’s the unspoken, the unheard, or the spoken that people refuse to hear— championing the needs of people is what we do as service designers.
“To love, to serve, and to fight for my family, my friends, and my community—they are who I live for and what keeps me going.”
I have the pleasure of helping some of the most amazing subject matter experts realize their fullest potential as they guide our wealth clients through sound, personalized advisement.
Combining that work with my purpose of creating environments where people can become the best versions of themselves is right in line with the work our Wealth teammates do every day. The lessons I’ve learned from working beside such brilliant experts, and amazingly successful clients, has contributed to my personal growth.
By helping others achieve their financial dreams and contributing to the economic growth of my community, I can make a positive difference in the lives of others and create a lasting legacy of impact.
“To serve as vessel of influence and create environments that challenge people to be the best versions of themselves.”
Growing up, I was fortunate to have parents who instilled a very solid foundation in my life. Transformational goals have always been the core of who I am and the heart of my purpose.
I believe if we move through life, setting and accomplishing small goals, we’re consistently transforming into a better version of ourselves. Leading myself through life with this purpose allows me to lead others toward positive change.
At Truist, being a client trainer not only allows me to teach our clients all we have to offer in Treasury—it gives me the chance to create an experience with them, to step into their world and enhance their businesses and lives.
My purpose is that I have the opportunity to educate, inspire, and advocate for transformational change in the organization.
“To make a difference through service, transforming, inspiring, educating, striving for growth, and creating those experiences with others.”
After more than 20 years in banking, I’ve seen a lot of changes and shifts—but know one constant. The importance of building relationships with clients and teammates. I’m always willing to share knowledge and experience with others, and also learn from them. When we do that together, we’re stronger as people and as a team.
I tell my daughter every morning: “Be good, have fun, learn a lot, and do your best.” These aren’t just words, but simple and straightforward messages that can benefit anyone.
I greatly value treating others with respect. Always learning from success and failure. And giving your best effort no matter what—but never forgetting to have fun while doing it.
“Every day, I strive to be the best version of myself and serve as an inspiration for my daughter.”
Our Truist teammates encompass a wide and diverse array of backgrounds, experiences, and opinions. And we all unite around our purpose, mission, and values, each of us bringing them to life in our own unique way.
“When we say everyone and every moment matters - we mean it. Working alongside teammates who share our care out loud makes my day, every day!”
"One team. That really resonates with me. We're trying to get to the same place. We're trying to achieve the same goal."
"Feeling part of a team, feeling valued, respected, connected, engaged. That's the environment at Truist."
We’re looking for people who are looking for more than just a job. Truist attracts thinkers and doers who want to contribute to a workplace where we all come together to build better lives and communities though financial well-being. Where we innovate on behalf of our clients. And where we show that care belongs in banking.
And if you happen to like purple, all the better. Sound like you?
